Under the leadership of Sheldon Lavin, OSI Group has accomplished a lot in regard to expansion to new markets, sustainable food production and the many accolades the company has received. Since 1970s, he has been part of OSI Group’s growth to become a world leader in provision of food solutions and products.

Sheldon Lavin’s career background

He has worked in the company for decades to become both its CEO and Chairman. Prior to joining OSI Group, he worked at an investment firm as an investment manager and bank executive manager. At that time, the food company, then called Otto & Sons was very active in its expansion endeavors and they were in need of funding. He played a huge role in the funding of Otto & Sons and later, he became its consultant.

His role at the company continued to grow and he was made a partner in 1975, the year the company changed its name to OSI Industries. A few years afterward, he was asked to join the company fully and occupy a leading position. He joined the company as Chairman and CEO. He dedicated his efforts to growing the company to become a leading company worldwide in the industry.

In an interview, he said that he would rather go back to his finance career than see the company not grow to become something big. Certainly, the company has grown rapidly and now, it has over 20,000 employees at 65 facilities in 17 countries. In 2016, it was ranked 58th largest private company by Forbes.

Under his leadership, the company has utilized cutting edge technologies to come up with systems and facilities that will see it maintain sustainable practices. They have continued to create a company that is not only productive, but also sustainable. Due to its commitment to sustainability, the European Agricultural Guarantee Fund (EAGF) pledged to fund the Spain branch to finish the expansion project. Additionally, Chamber of Commerce gave the company an award in reward for its effort to increase employment.

Sheldon’s efforts in the company has been recognized and consequently, he has received many accolades. In 2016, he was awarded with “C. Jaones Community Service Award” for participating actively in a charity organization in Chicago. In the same year, he received “Global Visionary Award” from Vision World Academy.

To cap it, Sheldon Lavin is involved in various philanthropic charities and organizations. He is in the board of trustees of a charitable organization called Ronald McDonald House Charities. In recognition of his civic involvement, he received Lifetime Achievement Award from RSM US LLP. He focused on formulating policies and procedures to realize both financial success and ecological footprints.

The Achievement of David McDonald, OSI Group President

David McDonald did not grow up in a well-founded family regarding financial matters. When McDonald was growing in Iowa farm, he developed a great passion for agriculture, and he wished to make a significant change in the field in future. As a young man, his family realized McDonald’s possible knowledge in the agricultural sector, and they supported him at all cost. In the year 1987, McDonald pursued bachelor’s degree in animal science from the Iowa State University. After finishing his studies and becoming an expert in agriculture and farm production, McDonald joined OSI Food Solution. Today, McDonald is the Chief Operating Officer and President of OSI Group.

David McDonald, through determination and consistency, gained many awards. The COO works himself up through various leadership positions. Formerly, before the appointment as the President of the group, he worked as a distinctive project manager of the OSI group. Initially, McDonald was the chairman of the North American Meat Institute. Also, the individual works in the OSI Food Solutions’ board of directors. The president received the Wallace E. Barron Outstanding Senior Award, due to his persistence in business. The OSI Group president determines to make the company the leading food industry globally.

OSI Group provides quality chicken, beef, and pork products. The group extends to more than 17 countries. Recently, the group completed its expansion to increase its customer networking and increase its productivity. Through the recent development, the company increased its production in chicken products from 12,000 to 24,000 tons per year, making it a double production. The extension leads to an impressive increase in the total output of the beef, pork, and chicken products to 45,000 tons per year. Additionally, the expansion brought about increase in the job availability, where 20 more jobs got created to add to the 140-current workforce.

In China, David McDonald ensured an increase in the productivity by improving the Poland Beef-Processing Plant by 30 percent. Under the leadership of David McDonald, OSI Food Solution received the honor of the top 100 American food company awards of the year. The group purchased the Tyson Food Plant in the year 2016 to increase its services in North America. In the year 2017 when the company acquired Flagship Europe, the group made it the major distributor food company in the UK and renaming it the Creative Foods Europe. Most recent achievement is purchasing the controlling stake in Baho Food, which also has an extension to Germany.
