The Chainsmokers is a global boy’s band made up of Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart who met back in their college days. Alex Pall had an interview with interview magazines after the release of their single ”closer”, and below we recap what he had to say about the band`s origin, music and future plans.
When the two met, Alex was working as a part time DJ in New York and was always passionate about dance music. When he was about to start his music career, his then manager introduced him to Andrew who was as well passionate about music. Andrew moved down to New York and they immediately started their career. From the beginning, the learnt of each other`s potentials and took time to practice. Andrew was an astute producer while Alex was a good DJ who would market their music in his gigs. According to Alex, the two trained seriously and met every day to help sharpen their skill, hence their success.
Unlike most celebrated musician who get a song writer to do their music, Alex tells the Interview magazine that for them, they fully participate in making their own music.” Even though we hire a songwriter sometimes, we have to be there full time during the whole process,” he says. He also notes the amount of pressure that come from the fans for a new album, and for the duo, they don’t want to make a 12 songs album that they can’t relate, hence the need to write their own music, or be there in the songwriting process.
The duo worked with the sassy queen of vocals Halsey on their single “closer”. Pall described her as incredible, strong voiced and open minded. For a long time, Halsey was the number one artist that the two wanted to work with. The song was a good step for the duo since they were both fully involved in its making including the production. When asked to describe their fan base, Paul was quick to note that their music is quickly spreading internationally. People of ages between 16 and 25, both girls and boys are their biggest fans. The two promise even more quality music in the future.
