Brian Bonar has been in the IT and financier’s world for a long time and has used his innovative ideas to help small and mid-sized businesses throughout that time. His early career consisted of a lot of software and hardware development while his more recent endeavors have focused more on the cost-savings aspects of staffing and financial solutions for clients.
He also knows quite a lot about investing and marketing and has overseen mergers and acquisitions while also founding subsidiary companies. He’s currently Chairman of the Dalrada Financial Corporation where he has been for over 17 years and also serves on several other boards.
Bonar is from Scotland and he completed his education at Strathclyde University where he received his bachelor’s in business and economics, and Staffordshire University where he got his MBA. Bonar began as a consultant for IBM UK Ltd and later became Procurement Manager in the motherboard distribution division of the company.
After spending 17 years with IBM, Bonar relocated to California and became Director of Engineering for QMS. He’s also been in the printing hardware and technology industry where he worked in the sales divisions of Adaptec and Rastek Corporations, and eventually he started his own company Bezier Systems where he was CEO for four years prior to merging with Imaging Technologies (ITEC).
ITEC not only distributed printing technology, they also partnered with SourceOne group to provide staffing solutions for customers and also developed proprietary software and provided ongoing support.
According to Bloomberg, Brian Bonar founded the Dalrada Financial Corporation in 1999 where he currently is Chairman. The Dalrada Financial Corporation manages employee benefits and compensation packages for client companies and also manages subsidiary professional employer organizations (PEOs).
PEOs are a way for small businesses to outsource their human resources and accounting departments for an affordable price so they can manage day-to-day tasks at the company. One of Bonar’s most notable PEOs is Trucept Inc., originally known as Smart-Tek Solutions. The company uses proprietary security and automated technology for accounting and payroll functions.
Brian Bonar doesn’t just have interests in IT and finance, he’s also taken up buying restaurants and turning them into elaborate cuisines. He purchased Bellamy’s in Escondido, CA several years ago and turned the facility into a fine dining experience. He also brought award-winning Master Chef of France Patrick Ponsaty to Bellamy’s and has made him the sole proprietor.
Ponsaty also caters to Bonar’s Bandy Canyon Ranch, a popular tourist attraction in the area. When not busy at the Dalrada Financial Corporation or in the restaurant business, Bonar is out working with the Boys and Girls Club of Greater San Diego, or you might find him out boating or golfing.
